Guilt

Oni was upset by a fly in the house. I quickly killed it and said, "It's okay he's gone." Oni asked where he had gone and I told her he was dead. Oni said, "Do you mean that he'll never see his Mommy again?"

It was one of the all too frequent times when I am unsure how to answer her.

Oh my.....

Jacob and I were standing in our bedroom talking while he wag getting ready for work the other day. Oni walked in and let out a loud gasp, and a very high-pitched, "OH MY CHICKEN FEATHERS!" She was focused on a laundry basked with some apparently intriguing clothes folded inside.

Jacob and tried hard not to laugh at her. She is too funny!

FYI

Oni said, "I am not a superhero. I might be a witch, but I am not a superhero."

Oops

Oni was running through the house goofing around - and she ran into Jacob and hit him. "Sorry Daddy - I didn't mean to do that on purpose."

Funny Oni et al.. Part III

Holly's friend was trying to teach her 3 year-old her whole name. She grabbed her daughter's hands and looked right into her eyes and very seriously asked her, "Michayla when some one asks you what your full name is, what are you going to say?"   Michayla replied just as serious, "Snow White."

Lucky Girl

Oni told her teacher last week that she "is very lucky to be beautiful just like her Mama and Dad."

Sweet girl.

In passing...

Oni says:
"Grammi took me to the movies to see 'The Beautiful Wonders of Rainbow CareBears'.

(They actually saw Yogi Bear, but I kind of like Oni's version better)

Don't Minimize It!

Oni has been playing with beads - making necklaces. Her most recent beads were alphabet beads. She was working on a necklace and came to an alphabet bead with no letter on it. Quite indignantly she exclaimed,

" There is no letter on my bead! Who took the letter off my bead?!"
Mama: "There's no letter on your bead? That's kind of funny, don't you think?"
Oni: "No it's not funny. It's terrible!" (When Oni is really serious about the treachery of something, the word terrible sounds like 'terry-ble'; this was one of those times.)

My Sweet Girl

Oni rests one hand lightly on my cheek, gets about two inches from my face and says in a very soft voice, "Mama, I will always love you." This was followed by a great hug.

Where's the Bacon?

Last night I was reading a story to Oni about Earth Day. The book is about a little boy who learns about the ice caps melting. He decides to save the Earth to save the polar bears. At the end of the book it says, "...help save the earth. And don't forget about the polar bears!" When I read that line Oni said, "No. Don't forget about the bacon!"

Oni Woods

Tonight Oni was in bed sleeping for about a half an hour and got up and came out to the living room. As I was tucking her back in I asked her why she got out of bed. She said, "Because I found a golf ball. In my bed." Then she showed me the golf ball.

Emma Johnson

For those of you who don't know the famous Emma Johnson, let me tell you about her. Oni goes to school with a little girl named Emma Johnson (that is how Oni always refers to her, first and last name). Everything Emma Johnson has, we want, everything Emma Johnson says is funny... you get the picture. One day Oni even "borrowed" Emma Johnson's pink princess purse. It just happened to be a Friday and she got to keep it over the weekend.

The other day Jacob met Emma Johnson's mother. She said to Jacob, "This must be Oni. We hear a lot about her at our house."  Apparently the feeling is mutual, or maybe Emma is just telling her Mama how her pink princess purse went missing one day.

Heavy Metal Crybaby

Oni heard some heavy metal today and said,"That guy is screaming because he needs his Mommy. But she's at work."
